Now there is a bike trail linking BikePA
Route "S" to the Maryland O.C.
to Oakland Scenic Route (C&O
Canal - Washington D.C.) and/or connecting into
West Virginia at Martinsburg/Winchester.
"This link allows the cyclist a new adventure
through the fertile PA Cumberland Valley.
Scenic rural farms and roads exist along with
small historic towns. Colonial forts on
the Tuscarora Frontier (1755 - 1763) have been
documented by the Conococheague Institute at
Rock Hill Farm, Mercersburg, PA 17236.

Directions:
From: BikePA Route "S" at Ft. Loudon
PA75 South At the intersection
where Route "S" turns East onto US40, stay
on PA Route. Take PA Route 75 into
Maryland where it turns to MD Route 57. Stop/stay
in Mercersburg for fortification and rest. At
the end of MD57, turn left (East) onto US
Route 40. At the intersection of US40
and US11 turn right (South) to Williamsport. Turn
east onto the C&O Canal to Washington,
D.C. OR Continue South on US11 into
West Virginia to Martinsburg/WInchester.
From Washington, D.C. Take
the C&O Canal path to Williamsport, MD Take
US Route 11 North to US Route 40 West Take
US Route 40 West to MD 57 North into Pennsylvania,
PA Route 75 Stop/stay in Mercersburg for
fortification and rest. Take Route 75
North to Ft. Loudoun to intercept BikePA
Route "S". “In a golfing community, a
gentleman’s golf course.” Distance to
Inn 10 miles 27 minutes
Overnight cyclist will find Mercersburg a great
place to stay with fine restaurants and friendly
B&B's.
